Dorothy Marie Jones, 74, passed away Friday, August 15, 2003 in Toledo Hospital. She was born October 8, 1928 to Ellen Irene (Tyler) and Robert Melvin Putterbaugh in Piqua, Ohio. She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Dana W. Jones; daughter, Diana L. Woodward and her husband, Howard R. Woodward of Kent Washington; grandsons, Darold A. (Marijean) Woodward of Pullman, Washington, and Matthew D. (Chirstine) of Maple Valley, Washington; great grandchildren, M. Kelig Woodward, Aislinn B. Woodward and Colin C. Woodward.
Mrs. Jones worked at the family business, Jone's Confectionery, where they served her special recipe hot dog sauce and chili from 1946 until 1968 when the Business closed. She later worked for the Toledo Public Schools in the Robinson Junior High School cafeteria until her retirement in 1990. Dorothy was an active member of East Christian Church and worked faithfully in her church until her illness. She taught the kindergarden Sunday School for 28 years, a job she treasured because of her love for little children. Through the years Mrs. Jones volunteered to work in th Raymer PTA, girl scouts and Waite High School choir parents groups. She was called "second mom" by many friends.
A memorial service to celebrate her life is planned for Sunday, August 24, 2003 at 2:00 pm in East Christian Church, 525 S. Coy Road (419-691-2505). A reception will be held immediately following the service. Memorials can be made to East Christian Church or any children's charity.
