Dorothy Kiggins, 81, of Oregon, passed away peacefully at her residence, Sunday, June 15, 2008. Dorothy was born in Toledo, Ohio on November 8, 1926, to Charles and Alice Elizabeth (Boyd) Crom. Dorothy along with her husband owned and operated Kiggins Kostumes for 36 years retiring in 2000. Dorothy designed and made many costumes which are still being used today. Dorothy had also worked as a secretary for Right Tool and Die Corporation for 17 years and also worked for Cal Themes, of California and Las Vegas as a production manager for 6 years. Dorothy will always be remembered for her infectious smile and her beautiful soprano voice. She was a lifetime member of the Choraliers for 46 years and this year received the Choraliers' Lifetime Achievement Award. She was a member of the National Costumes Association, Order of Eastern Star, Christ Dunberger Auxiliary. Dorothy was also an active member of. Christ United Methodist Church
Surviving are her loving husband, Perry; son, Charles; daughter, Nancy (Thomas) Sander; 3 grandchildren; 2 great- granddaughters; sister, Ruth Kessey. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents.
Family and friends may visit at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Thursday from 2-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. in Christ United Methodist Church, 5757 Starr Extension and where the family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy in Dorothy's memory are asked to consider Christ United Methodist Church.
