Obituary

Dorothy M. Kovarik, 87, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 29, 2008. Mrs. Kovarik was born on January 18, 1921, in Toledo, Ohio, the daughter of Gustav and Augusta (Klawitter) Tober. She graduated from Rossford High School, where she was crowned "May Day Queen" in 1938. Dorothy married her husband of 59 years, Ambrose Kovarik, on February 6, 1941, in Napoleon, Ohio. They went on to have four children, Joyce Barrett of Toledo, Lynda (Michael) Fritz of Cincinnati, David (Toni Leon) of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Bryan of Toledo. Dorothy is also survived by her grandchildren, Lori (Michael) Twining of Holland, Ohio, Jenean (Brian) Ferree, Matthew (Megan) Barrett, all of Sylvania, Adam (Meghan) Kovarik of Henderson, Colorado, Lauren Rae Kovarik of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Conor and Max Fritz of Cincinnati; five great-grandchildren, and many dear nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ambrose; parents, sisters, Ella Rutter, Mabel Bedard, Margaret Howd; brother, Ira Young and son-in-law, John Barrett. Mrs. Kovarik's interests were primarily her family, along with years of volunteer work as a room mother and the Mother's Club at Oakdale Elementary School. She was a lifetime member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school for 35 years. She was a member of the church's Ladies Aid Society, and the Pairs and Spares Senior Citizens Group. She was also an active member of the Sisters Card Club. Mrs. Kovarik was a wonderful cook and baker. She liked to quilt, crochet, shop and travel with family. The many trips included excursions to polka festivals across the Midwest with her husband and numerous friends. Friends and family may visit at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, on Tuesday, April 1, 2008 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 106 West Plumer St., Toledo, on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. where family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park. Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy in Dorothy's name are asked to consider Bethlehem Lutheran Church. The family wishes to thank Kingston of Sylvania and Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their loving care and support. Visitation: Tuesday, April 1 2-4 p.m. & 6-9 p.m. Services: Wednesday, April 2 11:30 a.m.
