Donald W. Billings, 81, of Oregon, OH passed away November 25, 2006 in Wright Harvey House. He was born in Toledo, OH on November 21, 1925 to Dr. Wesley and Mildred (Strong) Billings. Donald practiced family medicine from his Woodville Road office for 38 years. He also specialized in surgery and anesthesiology and served as Head of Obstetrics at Parkview before his retirement in 1988. He was a member of First St. Marks Lutheran, a 50 year member at Port Lawrence Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Zenobia Shrine, Toledo Academy of Medicine, American Osteopathic Association, Ohio Osteopathic Association, Toledo Osteopathic Association, American College of Osteopathic Anesthesiologist, and the American College Osteopathic Family Physicians. Donald was also a member of the Clay High School Hall of Fame. Dr. Billings was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a life member of the Southside Sportsmans Club and the Wolf Creek Conservation Club.
Donald is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Dorothy; daughter, Susan (Michael) Roberts; sons, Jay (Barbara) and Jeffrey (Julie) Billings; brother, Jack (Kitty) Billings; grandchildren, Steven (Mellisa) Roberts, Stephanie (Kenneth) Webster Jr., Ashley, Bradley, Zachary and Aaron Billings, Kristopher and Emily Ramsdell; great grandchildren, Payton, Kaley and Brock Webster. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant children; Judy, Bryan and Donald; brothers, Robert and James Purcell.
Friends may call in the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road where visitation will be Monday from 2 to 8 pm. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 11:00 am in First St. Mark Lutheran Church, 1121 Grasser Street, Oregon where visitation will begin at 10:00am. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park. The family suggest memorial contributions in Donald's memory be made to either the Alzheimer's Association or the American Diabetes Association.
