Earl Zimmerman, 77, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away suddenly in his residence on Friday, February 11, 2005. Earl was born in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania on January 24, 1928, to Dess and Dessie (Snell) Zimmerman. He graduated from Punxsutawney High School. He married Patricia Lento on February 19, 1946. Earl had worked for the B & O and the C & O Railroads as an engineer for 47 and a half years. He loved all trains especially steam engines he also enjoyed camping. Earl was a member of the Railroad Camping Association, Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. He was a Mason for over 50 years belonging to the former Port Lawrence Lodge and currently with the Paragon Masonic Lodge also a member of the Shriners, the Grotto Group and the Order of the Eastern Star #477. Earl was a co-sponsor of Grandparents - Grandchildrens Rights of Ohio Incorporated. Earl and his wife where Charter Members of the First Baptist Church, Oregon, Ohio.
In addition to his wife of 59 years, Patricia A. Zimmerman, he is survived by his children, Ann Lawrence, WV, Judy Zimmerman, VA, Cindy Snow, FL; grandchildren, Laura, Karen, Mary, Jeremiah (Jamie), Amy; great-grandchildren, Jonathan and Zander; special grandchildren, Sean, Jess, Sadie; sister Hazel Cooley, FL. Earl was preceded in death by his parents; and his twin daughters, Kay and Kathy.
Visitation will be held at Eggleston-Meinert-Pavley Funeral Home, Coy Road Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, Oregon, on Monday, 4 p.m. until time of the Paragon Masonic Lodge Service at 7 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 7:30 p.m. Additional visitation will be held in Punxsutawney, PA, with funeral services being held Thursday at the Pifer Funeral Home, 814-938-5421. Interment will take place in Pifer Cemetery, Punxsutawney, PA. Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy in Earl's memory are asked to consider the First Baptist Church of Oregon, Seaman Road, Oregon, Ohio.
