Eddy G. Dickens Sr, age 66, of Elmore, was called home to be with the Lord on November 28, 2021 after a sudden struggle with Covid complications. He was a very loving husband, father, grandfather (papa), brother, uncle, and friend to many. Eddy was born on June 30, 1955 to Clinton and Margaret (Taylor) Dickens in Lucas County, Ohio. After graduating from Clay High School in 1974, like his brothers, he went on to follow the path of their father as a skilled diesel mechanic. He met his wife, Kim, in 1976 and they married the following year on June 4, 1977, going on to have three sons Eddy G. Jr, Ben J., and Cole C.
Eddy was a true force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, often saying that "If you don't have family, you don't have anything". Eddy was unendingly proud of Eddy Jr, Ben, Cole, and Kim, tirelessly and unselfishly supporting and encouraging them in all ways possible.
In his spare time, Eddy enjoyed working on and tinkering with anything mechanical, from small to large engines. He also had a passion for Drag Racing, as he spent many years building Drag Cars with his brothers and always continued to watch and attend Drag Racing events. But more than anything else, his true desire was just to spend time together with his wife, children, and grandchildren. Anyone who knew Eddy, knew he was the most loving husband, father, and grandfather a family could ever ask for.
Eddy was preceded in death by his parents Clinton and Margaret Dickens and brother Jerry Dickens. Eddy is survived by his wife Kim M. (Walton) Dickens; siblings Clinton (Larry), Earnie, and Joanne; children Eddy Jr. (Danielle), Ben (Heather), and Cole (Samantha); and grandchildren Parker, Adisyn, Eddy J., Emersyn, Sawyer, Arley, Miles, and Olivia.
There will be a memorial and celebration of his life for the family on December 11, 2021 from 1-4pm at the New Sportsman Club, Millbury, Ohio.
The family requests that any contributions or condolences be made in Eddy's name and memory for his long-held love and desire of providing less fortunate children with Christmas gifts.
