Edsel E. Lawson, 88, formerly of Walbridge, OH passed away on Friday, December 17, 2010 in Heartland of Waterville. Mr. Lawson was born in Ironton, Ohio on December 15, 1922 to Fred and Ida (Baldwin) Lawson. He was a naval veteran during WWII where he served as cook on the U.S.S. Hammerhead. Edsel was employed as a supervisor with Libbey Glass for 30 years before his retirement in 1978 and then managed Lost Peninsula Yacht Club and Marina for several years. He was a member of the Walbridge VFW Post and enjoyed playing cards and bowling.
Surviving are his daughters, Barbara (Ernie) Frye and Rebecca (Terry) Sargent; step daughters, Marcia Isbel, Terri (Jeff) Kiener; sister, Juanita Kearns; daughter-in-law, Marie Lawson; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Faye; second wife, Hazel; son, Joseph Lawson and step-son, Doug Isbell.
Visitation will begin on Wednesday, December 22, 2010 in the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel at 11 am until the time of service at 1 pm. Interment will be in Lake Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Heartland Hospice.
