Edward W. Claus, Sr., 90, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 4, 2015 surrounded by loved ones at his son'™s home. He was born in 1924 in Toledo, Ohio to William and Hazel Claus, living most of his life in Toledo.
Ed was an energetic man working over 50 years, 25 years at Main Novelty repairing juke boxes and amusement games, there wasn'™t anything he couldn'™t repair. He continued within his profession at Deluxe Vending for an additional 25 years. He enjoyed working, passing his work ethics on to his children and grandchildren.
In his spare time, he enjoyed reminiscing about the early days of Toledo, spending time with his family, traveling to Las Vegas to visit family and friends, and most recently spending his summers at Lost Peninsula Marina. His sense of humor brightened many lives, he always made time for his family, guiding them with their endeavors and celebrating their accomplishments.
He lived by his own rules. He defied all odds when his back was up against the wall, defeating bladder cancer at age 60, overcoming lung and brain cancer at 89, and defied all odds beating pneumonia at 90. He is survived by his sons, Edward Jr. (Kris) Claus, Kenneth (Carole) Claus; daughter, Cecelia Claus; brothers, Don Claus, Frank (Gloria) Claus; 7 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Nancy Claus; parents, William and Hazel; brothers, Tom and Joe Claus; sister, Pauline Richards.
Friends may visit at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Rd. on Thursday, January 8, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will take place in the funeral home on Friday beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Lake Township Cemetery.
