Obituary

Edward J. Parker, 86, of Oregon, OH, passed away on August 24, 2013 after a long battle with cancer. A graduate of Libbey High School, Ed served in the navy in WWII. In 1948, he married his wartime pen pal, family friend Shirley L. Butler. The two were married for 63 years. Ed worked as a Toledo Firefighter, retiring in 1981. He was a proud member of the American Legion and the VFW. He is survived by son Tony (Jody) Parker; daughter Joy Ellen Parker; grandchildren Kelly (Michael) Hirsh, Abbey Rose, Jonathan Rose, Ashley (Derrick) Stout, Erika Parker; great-grandchildren Riley and Easton Stout, Wilson Hirsh; sisters Geraldine (Howard) Buck, Barbara (David) Starner, Rosemary (John) Wooddall. He was preceded in death by parents Jesse and Marie Parker; Wife Shirley; daughter Janice Rose, son-in-law Wilson Rose, great-granddaughter Emma Stout; sisters Ruth (Elmer) Rahla, Virginia (Roy) Wiegand, Sarah (Ronald) Westfall. Friends may call at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 from 2:00 pm '" 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at 11:00 am in the funeral home. Private interment will take place at Toledo Memorial Park.
