Edward J. Shepherd, 75, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away peacefully in his home on Tuesday, March 13, 2018. Ed was born in Toledo, Ohio on August 17, 1942 to Robert and Edna (Reno) Shepherd. He graduated from Olney High School and shortly after started working for Pennsylvania R/R as Yardmaster and part time for Worth Clegg Funeral Home and would end up retiring from Hirzel Canning. Ed also worked as manager for Bud and Luke Restaurant for several years. He married the love of his life in 1964 and together they would have two children. Ed was an avid Louisville Cardinals and Ohio State Buckeyes fan, loved hunting and fishing, but what he cherished most was his family. Ed is survived by his wife of 54 years, Karen; son, James Shepherd; daughter, Jennifer (Mike) Howard; grandchildren, Megan (Brian) Lewallen, Brandy (Eric) Schuffenecker, Kristina and Kevin Howard; adopted grand-daughter, Stephanie Zhu; great-grandchildren, Bria, Evie, Tucker, Ryder, Bristol, Kendall, Arianna, and Zane; brother, Robert (Janet), Michael (Sandy) Shepherd; and sister, Darla Vancena; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter-in-law, Linda Shepherd and brother-in-law, Skip Vancena. The family will receive friends at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Saturday, March 17, 2018 from 1:00 pm until the time of celebration of life at 5:00 pm. Memorial contributions in Ed's name may be directed to Ohio Living Hospice or Northwestern Ohio Christian Youth Camp. The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Ohio Living Hospice, especially Haley Gittus, for the compassionate care they provided to Ed.
