He's rounded the bases and
he is safe at home!
Ed "Mac" McDougle passed away quietly in the arms of his loving wife in his home on the night of February 21, 2004, of congestive heart failure. He was born July 19, 1937, to Ralph and Ethelene (Dennis) McDougle in Hoytville, Ohio, moving to Oregon, Ohio when he was in sixth grade. He is gone, but will never be forgotten. To remember him all you need to do is look into the sparkling eyes of his children and grandchildren.
During his stay on this earth, he wore many hats. A husband for 48 years, a father of six, grand-father of 12, and great-grandfather of one. He graduated from Clay High School in 1955. He married Rita Jeanne Benster later that year. He graduated from the University of Toledo in 1986 with an associates degree in management and transportation. He worked in the trucking industry for over 30 years, and retired from CCX in 2001. He was a volunteer fireman in Oregon, Ohio for three years. He loved the games of baseball and softball. He played for St. Charles Hospital's men's softball team for 20 years until the age of 64. Ed was also an umpire for the Independent Umpires Association for the past five years. Ed, the game will never be the same without you. He coached each and every one of his children throughout the years. He received much joy and satisfaction watching his children and grandchildren participate in all sports and musical activities. His loves also included family, food, fishing, hunting, reading, cooking, gardening, and golfing. And nothing pleased him more than to make someone laugh.
Ed is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Ethelene (Dennis) McDougle. He is survived by, and will be forever in the hearts of his wife of 48 years, Rita Jeanne; his siblings, Dennis (April) McDougle (Salt Lake City, Utah), Jerry McDougle (Bellevue, Ohio), and Sherry (Richard) Morris (Belmond, Iowa); his children, Toby (Diane) McDougle, Patrick (Lynne) McDougle, Marjorie McDougle (Cleveland, Ohio), Shawn Yapragigur, Kerry (Thomas) Bertsch, and Quinn (Wendy) McDougle; his grandchildren, Kelly, Shannon, Bryan, Brett, Lauren, Erin, Kaitlyn, Kristen, Mariah, and Samantha McDougle, Jessica and Justin Guerrero; his great granddaughter, Skylar Kyser, and many nieces and nephews. Dad in the game of life, you definitely hit the grand slam and won the game for us all.
