Elaine Louise Ackerman, 83, passed into the presence of her Lord Jesus Christ on February 4, 2013 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, with her loving family by her side.
Born at home in Oregon, OH on January 1, 1930 to parents Henry and Ethel (Eaton) Helmke, Elaine attended Clay High School and graduated from Whitney Vocational High School graduating in 1947, then worked at B.R. Baker as a seamstress until her marriage on October 10, 1953.
She leaves behind a Godly legacy as beloved wife, devoted mother, caring grandmother, many friends and extended family that will miss her genuine love and smile. A faith-filled member of First St. John Lutheran Church, Elaine served her church family as nursery worker, altar guild member, bereavement committee chairman and in many other ways.
Elaine is survived by her husband, George; children, Paul (Kathy), Mark (Debra), Kurt (Beth) and Glen; grandchildren, Andrew, Katherine (John) Hudson, Hannah (Daniel) Ellis, Karl, Rachel, Matthew, Elissa, Amy, Audrey, Michael (Kristen), Daniel; devoted twin sister, Eileen Young and beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by daughter, Kay Elaine; parents, and brother Henry.
Elaine will best be remembered as a hardworking, gentle and friendly woman. As a faithful 'œbehind the scenes' supporter of the Ackerman family'™s equipment business, she allowed her husband and sons to focus on the business while she took responsibility for virtually every aspect of the family home, including mechanical repairs. A Biblical description of Elaine can be found by reading Proverbs 31.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their end of life care and concern. Special thanks go to Elaine'™s at-home caregivers Lynn, Kelly and Julie.
Visitation will be Friday, February 8, 2013 at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Rd., from 2 PM -9 PM.
