Eleanor P. Symington, 84, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at Mercy St. Charles Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Eleanor was born in Curtice, Ohio on August 3, 1928 to Frank and Mida (Paul) DeCant. On November 13, 1954, she married Thomas E. Symington. For many years, Eleanor worked at Seven Seas Gift shop at the Woodville Mall. She was a member of VFW Post #9963 Ladies Auxiliary and First St. John Lutheran Church where she participated in the Ladies Circle. Eleanor was a longtime volunteer at the Lutheran Home at Toledo and Mercy St. Charles Hospital Radiology Department and Gift Shop. She was an active bowler at the Toledo Sports Center and enjoyed baking for her family and friends.
Eleanor is survived by her children; Paul (Debra) Symington and Mark (Pat) Symington; grandson, Clay Symington; sister, Florence Bowen; sister-in-laws, Doris Wiley, and Barbara Peterson; brother-in-law, Irvin Young; nieces, Amy, Julie, Debbie, Sandy, Joyce, and Julie; and nephews, Jim and Charlie. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thomas; sister, Marcella Young; brother, Jerry DeCant; and brother-in-laws, Richard Bowen and Charles Peterson.
Friends may call at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Friday, December 14, 2012 from 2:00-8:00 pm. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, December 15, 2012 at 1:00 pm in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park.
