Elisabeth M. Hecklinger, 87, of Toledo, passed away Tuesday, August 24, 2010 in the Lutheran Home of Toledo. Mrs. Hecklinger was born in Toledo on December 13, 1922 to Ernest and Emilie (Schlupp) Hirzel. She was the widow of Robert Hecklinger who preceded her in death in 2008. Elisabeth was a Waite High School graduate and a member of First St. John Lutheran Church. She was a founding member and served as a trustee of the GAF, was a member and served as president from 1960 to 2000 of the Swiss Ladies Society, past treasurer of the United Swiss and past member of the Toledo Swiss Singers and the Spade and Trowel Garden Club. Elisabeth was known as a great cook and for all her hard work at the Swiss picnics and the GAF festival. Surviving are her sons, Robert W. (Debra), Richard W. (Cathy) and James O. (Sandy) Hecklinger; 9 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Karen Predmore; sisters, Olga Bollinger and Helen Humberger. Visitation will be held at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, on Thursday from 2:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday in First St. Johns Lutheran Church. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Elisabeth's memory may be directed to First St. John Lutheran Church or the charity of the donor's choice.
