Elizabeth M. Baranowski, 95, formerly of East Toledo, passed away Friday, December 17, 2010 at Orchard Villa Retirement Community. She was born in Toledo, Ohio on March 28, 1915 to Michael and Elizabeth Gottfried. She married Sergius Baranowski, and he preceded her in death on December 6, 1991. Elizabeth was a lifelong member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and its Altar Rosary Society. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and gardening, especially roses. Elizabeth is survived by her daughter, Carol (Jerry) Helyer, son, Richard (Marilyn) Baranowski; grandchildren, Karen (Eric) Holman, Greg (Patricia) Helyer, Matthew Baranowski, Jennifer (Steve) Smith, Patrick (Tara) Baranowski, and Elizabeth (Brian) Wilcox. Also survived by 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Serge Baranowski; and sisters, Margaret Fodor and Lola Kovacs. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am, Saturday, January 15, 2011 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 729 White Street, Toledo, Ohio 43605. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, or St. Louis Helping Hands.
