Elizabeth "Betty" L. (Coughlin) Hakius, 85 of Oregon, passed away Friday, October 30, 2009, surrounded by her loving family. Betty was born in Butler, Pennsylvania on August 29, 1924, to Lawrence Lee and Nellie (Herbert) Whitaker. She was retired from Libbey Owens Ford where she was a glassworker. Betty was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church. In her spare time Betty enjoyed, shopping, shopping and shopping! She and her husband also enjoyed traveling around the world. Most of all Betty's real love was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grand-children. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Merle F. Hakius; son, Michael Coughlin and her sister, Dorothy Reynolds. Betty is survived by her children, Frank W. "Spunk" (Millie) Coughlin, Donna Donofrio; grandchildren, Kim, Scott (Heidi), Tim (Patty), Michael (Andrea), Brian, Brandon Coughlin, Vince (Jessie), David (Bell) Donofrio; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mildred Myers, Patricia Puls. Visitation will be held at Eggleston Meinert Pavley, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, Oregon, on Monday from 2-9 p.m. Funeral Services will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Park.
