Elizabeth "Liz" A. Meinert, 81, of Sarasota, Florida, formerly of Oregon, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at Lakewood Ranch Medical Center in Florida. Liz was born on August 10, 1939 in Toledo, Ohio to Kolman and Elizabeth (Koren) Komives. She attended Waite High School, Whitney Vocational School and the University of Toledo.
Liz married the love of her life, Donn Meinert, on May 28, 1965. Liz and Donn owned and operated Eggleston Meinert Funeral Home for many years. She was proud to be one of the first female Funeral Directors in Northwest Ohio. They enjoyed traveling to different countries and spending their winters in Sarasota, Florida.
Liz was very active in her hometown community and the surrounding areas. Over the years, she served as a member of the St. Charles Board and Auxiliary, Oregon - Jerusalem Historical Society, Business Professional Women's Organization and Zonta International. She was also a longtime member of St. Mark Lutheran Church.
Most recently, she enjoyed spending time with her family, whenever possible. Together, they enjoyed going to restaurants, concerts and on family trips to Siesta Key and Put-in-Bay. Liz was a strong, independent woman that will be missed by many.
Liz is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth "Lisa" (Dennis) Pavley; grandchildren, Michael Pavley and Matthew (Jaimie) Pavley; great grandson, Colton Pavley; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 43 years, Donn Meinert; parents; and siblings, Howard "Butch" Komives and Julie Woods.
Friends and family may visit Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, April 22 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Lake Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Liz's name can be directed to St. Mark Lutheran Church, Oregon Senior Center or Oregon Jerusalem Historical Society.
