Elizabeth Penovich, 86, of Toledo passed away on Thursday, December 4, 2008, in the Kemper House in Olmstead Falls, Ohio. Elizabeth was born in Metamora, Ohio on November 10, 1922, to John and Mary (Pokornik) Jurasek. She was a 1941 graduate of Waite High School. Elizabeth retired from the former B R Bakers Clothing Store after 25 years. She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church, the Czech Polka Club and Maumee Lodge #374 Czechoslovakia Society of America. In 2007, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Milan.
Surviving are her children, Kathleen (Tom) Doktor, Patricia (Bill) Vidrine; son, Dennis Penovich (Jamie Browski); granddaughters, Michelle (Dave) Wawrzynski and Lori (Greg) Surtman, her loving and devoted caregivers; great grandsons, Jack and Andrew. To our mother and grandma, we are thankful to have had you in our lives for so many years filled with love, fun and laughter. We will miss you.
Family and friends may visit at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Sunday from 2 to 7 pm. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Monday at 1:00 pm. Interment will be in Willow Cemetery. Throughout our family's journey with dementia there are many special people we have met. We would like to thank Liz's caregivers and friends at Kemper House of Olmsted Falls, Genoa Retirement Village, and Hospice of the Western Reserve for all of their care and kindness. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimers Association, Northwest Ohio Chapter.
