Ellwood G. Cowell, 90, of Perrysburg, Ohio and formerly of Oregon, Ohio passed away July 25, 2010 at Perrysburg Care & Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on March 22, 1920 to Clarence and Marie (Kunkle) Cowell. On March 22, 1943, he married Mary Ellen Smith and she survives. Ellwood was an Army veteran of World War II, and was employed for 32 years at Libbey Owens Ford, prior to retiring in 1978. Ellwood enjoyed gardening, playing the harmonica, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Surviving are his wife, Mary Ellen; children, Gerald (Diane Gajewski) Cowell, Alan (Mary) Cowell, Denny Cowell, and Roger (Kelly) Cowell. Ellwood is also survived by many grandchildren, great '"grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; and son-in-law, Ronnie Shafer. Ellwood was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Judy Shafer; grandson, Jeffrey Shafer; brothers, Kenneth, Clyde, and Lester; and sister, Margie Lindesmith. Visitation will be held at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, on Thursday from 11:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow at Willow Cemetery, 1961 Pickle Road, Oregon. Memorial contributions can be made to St Jude Children Research Hospital.
