Elmer Paul Hornyak, 82, passed away July 5, 2004 in Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on October 1, 1921 to Steven and Helen (Czimar) Hornyak. Elmer was a veteran of the US Army during World War II, and was employed as a machinist at Bunting Brass and Bronze for 45 years, retiring in 1980. He was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church and the VFW Post #4906.
Surviving are his wife, Bernice; son, Phillip (Carol) Hornyak; grandchildren, Sue (Mike) Pickard; Scott (Heidi), Brian, Jeff (Sarah), Chad and Josh Hornyak; 10 great grandchildren; brothers, Ernie and John Hornyak. Elmer was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Steven, Paul and sister, Mimi Toth.
Family and friends may visit at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Coy Road Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, Oregon, OH on Thursday from 2 to 9 p.m. Scripture services will be Thursday at 7 p.m. followed by VFW services at 7:30 p.m.. Funeral services will begin in the funeral home on Friday at 9:30 a.m. and proceed to St. Louis Catholic Church for Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Ignatius Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy in Elmer's memory can be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Helping Hands at St. Louis Parish or the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
