Elmer Nicholas Seimet, Jr., 80, of Toledo, Ohio passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 21, 2024 at Divine Rehabilitation and Nursing of Sylvania. Elmer was born on October 12, 1944 in Toledo, Ohio to Elmer and Rosemary (Sawmiller) Seimet.
He was drafted into the Army after graduating from Clay High School, where he proudly served his country in Korea. Elmer married the love of his life, Barbara Sterns on November 6, 1965. He worked as a millwright at Libbey Owens Ford for 36 years, retiring in 2000. Elmer then went on to work for the State of Ohio Parks and Meijer, where everyone loved his smile. He was a passionate and avid fisherman and hunter who loved having fish fries for his friends and family. Elmer enjoyed the last few years of his life having card parties and dinner with his family.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, James Seimet and Mary England; grandchildren, Andrew, Ashley, Darla, Leia; great-grandchildren, Emma, Brenden, and Leah; siblings, Helen, Derald, Robert, and Linda; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Elmer was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Rosemary; wife, Barbara; son, Tom; daughter-in-law, Dori; and brother, Tim.
The family will receive friends at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Rd., Saturday, November 30, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. where a Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests tributes to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or the National Wildlife Federation.
