Elroy F. Metzger, 87, formerly of Oregon, Ohio, died peacefully, Sunday, June 16, 2024, surrounded by his family. Mr. Metzger was born to Otto and Irene (Gilliland) Metzger in Toledo, Ohio November 27, 1936. In 1956, he graduated from Waite High School. On June 10, 1956, he married Carol Turner. For 42 years, Elroy operated Metzger Upholstery on Nevada Street in East Toledo. He was an active member of the Oregon Senior Center, was an avid bowler, and enjoyed glassblowing with the Toledo Craftsman's Guild. He was a member of the former Martin Luther Lutheran Church.

Elroy is survived by his daughters, Pamela (Ron) Lenning, Gwendolyn (Ed) Goetz, and Lois (Greg) Bridge; grandchildren, Rebecca (Dan) Vanisacker, Elizabeth (Steven) Day, Kristy Myers (Jonathan), Jeffery Myers, Julie Myers, and Dakota (Rob) Lawrence; great-grandchildren, Peyton and Maximus; brother, Brian (Judy) Metzger; along with many nieces, nephews, loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carol; daughter, Jennie; and sisters, Donna Funk and Lois Sass.

The family will receive friends at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road Friday, June 21, 2024 from 10:00 am until funeral service at 2:00pm. Private interment: Toledo Memorial Park. Expressions of sympathy may be directed in the form of donations to Heartland Hospice.
