Elvera C. Whicker, 96, of Toledo, passed away on August 25, 2016 at Parkcliffe Community at Northwood after a heartbreaking battle with Dementia. Her son and a granddaughter were able to be at her side, and spoke to her of their love for her when the Lord delivered her from her suffering. She was born in Toledo, Ohio on May 22, 1920 to John and Caroline (Mugler) Graser. Elvera was a Clay High School Graduate. She worked for the Save Electric Company prior to being a Mother. She was very caring for family members and friends and in healthier days very active in various ministries at Northwood Church of God, East Broadway Church of God, North Cove Church of God, and prior to these, her and family attended Woodstock Church of God, a former Church in West Toledo. She would often make sure family visitors were well fed. She was a very Godly wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Church worker.
Elvera is survived by her son Jeffrey Whicker; grandchildren Jodi (Ravi) Whicker Chitkara and Holly Whicker Clark, great grandchildren Dustin (Morgan) and Stacy Mariea, Devon, Ursula, and Ekaterina Eckhardt and Courntney "Nikki" Clark. Also by 3 great great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Wilson, son Michael, step-father Reynold Bartell, sister Eleanor Karle, and brother Harold Graser.
Friends may visit at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Rd. on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 from 6 pm to 8 pm. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday August 31, 2016 at 11:00 at Northwood Church of God, 3375 Curtice Rd, Northwood, OH. Interment will follow in Liberty Cemetery south of Kansas, Ohio. Printed directions will be provided for those wishing to attend, there will be no procession.Those wishing an expression of sympathy in Elvera's name are asked to consider contributions to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, a favorite charity of hers when she was able to contribute, rather than flowers.
