Eric "Bert" Harpel, 59 of Toledo, Ohio passed away March 12, 2020 at Oregon Healthcare. Bert was born on July 15, 1960 to Jack and Phyllis (Kansorka) Harpel in Oregon, Ohio. Bert graduated from Cardinal Stritch Catholic Acadamy in 1978, where he excelled in baseball, football and basketball. Bert joined the US Navy and worked as a boilermaker for many years. Bert enjoyed tinkering in his garage, loved camping, being outdoors and was an avid lover of Harley Davidson. Surviving are his mother, Phyllis Harpel; children, Julie (Greg) Seeger, Eric (Amanda) Harpel, Jackie Harpel and Erica Szegedi; grandchildren, Leam, Bryn, Trig, Mira and Crew; sibling, Kevin (Lori) Harpel; nephews, Michael and Christopher; and mother of his children, Michelle Harpel. He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Harpel. Visitation will be at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, Oregon on Saturday, March 14 from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 4:00 p.m. Private interment will take place at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park at a later date.
