Erma L. LaPlante, 91, of Holland, formerly of Farnstead Drive, Northwood, passed away Monday, June 27, 2011 at Spring Meadows Extended Care. She was born in Lima, Ohio on February 11, 1920 to Bert and Effie (Sherman) Spring. On April 20, 1938, she married Donald LaPlante, and he preceded her in death on April 12, 1994. Erma was employed as a nurse with Toledo Mental Health for 14 years, retiring in 1980. She was a member of the former East Christian Church and enjoyed camping, reading, sewing, and playing euchre and pinochle with friends. Erma is survived by her children, Don (Sharon), Jerry (Pat), John (Judy), Rick (Diane), Sally (Bill) Newhouse, Lou (Jerry) Day, 19 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Marjorie Patterson, and brothers, Fred and Ken Spring. Friends may call at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Thursday from 12:00-8:00 pm. Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 am Friday in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Highland Memory Gardens, Waterville. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or a charity of the donor'™s choice.
