Obituary

Ernest W. Bilang Jr. 85, of Oregon passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2009 in Bay Park Community Hospital. Ernie was born in Toledo on April 18, 1923 to Ernest and Othilia (Calcamuggio) Bilang Sr. Mr. Bilang was a 1942 graduate of Clay High School. He served in the US Navy in the European Atlantic theater during World War II. Ernie employed as a Nationwide insurance agent for 45 years before his retirement in 1994. He was a life member of both Christ Dunberger American Legion Post and Post #4906 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. His memberships also included the Pargon Masonic Lodge, Zenobia Shrine Scottish Rite, East Toledo Hi-Twelve, GAF, Swiss Society and AA. In his spare time Ernie loved sprint cars races and fishing. Surviving are his son, William Bilang; brother, Thomas (Carol) Bilang; sister, Rose Marilyn Moring. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jane; sisters, Betty Dodd and Joan Karwhite. Family and friends may visit at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road beginning on Thursday at 2 pm and continue until funeral services will be held at 7:00 pm. Interment will be private. The family wishes to acknowledge his special waitresses and staff at both Bob Evan's and Freeway Restaurants. They also want to thank his friends at AA for the great support and friendship and the nurses and staff at Bay Park Hospital for the outstanding and compassionate care. A luncheon in Ernie's honor will be held Saturday, March 7, 2009 from 12Noon – 3p.m. at Bayside Boardwalk, 2759 Seaman, Oregon, Ohio. Visitation: Thursday, 2:00 - 7:00 p.m. Services: Thursday, 7:00 p.m.
