Ernest H. Bollinger, 85, peacefully passed away in the presence of God and his loving family on Tuesday, October 14, 2014. It was the 64th anniversary of his wedding day to Marjorie Hecklinger.
Ernie was born on November 14, 1928 to Herman and Olga (Hirzel) Bollinger. He was a graduate of Clay High School and the University of Toledo. Ernie managed the Hirzel Coal and Builder'™s Supply for his grandfather, Ernest Hirzel. He retired from Tri-State Aluminum in 1992.
Ernie loved to sing. He was a member of his church choir and the Toledo Swiss Singers for 67 years. His father and maternal grandfather emigrated from Switzerland, and Ernie took pride in his heritage. He was very active in the Toledo Swiss Societies, and served as a director of the North American Swiss Alliance.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Majorie; sons, Jack (Carolyn), Dan (Jane); grandchildren, Aaron (Allison), Alison (Grant) Webster, Amy (Jonathan) Samarzia, Lauren; great-grandchildren, Camden Bollinger, Audrey Webster; sister, Rosalie Engelman; nephews, James Engelman, Bruce Engelman; in-laws, William Fischhaber, Martha Hecklinger. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law Charles Engelman, and niece Holly Engelman.
Friends may visit at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Rd. on Friday, October 17, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will take place on Saturday at First St. John Lutheran Church, 2471 Seaman St., Toledo at 10:30 a.m. and where the family will receive guests beginning at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow in St. John'™s Cemetery. The family would like to give special thanks to the nurses and staff at Hospice of Northwest Ohio for all their loving care.
