Ernest J. Gable, 88, of Oregon, Ohio passed away peacefully January 28, 2010 at Mercy St. Charles Hospital. He was born on November 5, 1921 to Ernest C. Gable and Gladys (Stroh) Pittman. Ernie graduated from Clay High School in 1941 and from of the University of Toledo in 1949. He was a U.S. veteran of Air Force 8th Division, serving during World War II in Sudbury, England. Ernie's memberships included Christ United Methodist Church, Oregon, OH, Lotus Point Masonic, GAF-Swiss Society and the Christ Dunberger Post. He enjoyed golf and was a member of Hidden Hills Golf Course.
Surviving are his daughter, Linda (Jim) Schroeder; son, Mark Gable; grandchildren, Scot (Mette) and Gregory (Heidi) Schroeder; great grandsons, Matthew, Drew, Aidan and Graeson; loving friend and companion of 22 years, Helen Sallee and her family. Ernie was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Joan
Friends may call at Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road at Starr Ave. on Sunday, January 31, 2010 from 1- 8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m. with interment following in Restlawn Memorial Park.
