Ernest C. Pickering, 87 of Toledo passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2004 at Foundation Park Care Center.
He was born in Toledo on August 4, 1916 to Cecil and Florence (Hamlin) Pickering. Ernest worked for the family business, Pickering Coal Co. until 1946; he then was the owner of Black & White Cab from 1946 until 1963 and his last employment was with Checker Motor Sales. Ernest was a veteran of the US Navy , on the Board of Directors for NIFTI and a member of Paragon Lodge U.D. No. 788 F. & A. M.
Ernest is survived by his son, Ronald (Barbara) of Seven Hills, OH; daughter, Rebecca Brown of Brunswick,OH and 6 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers.
Friends and family may visit on Sunday, February 22, 2004 from 2 until the funeral service time at 5:30 p.m. in
the Eggleston-Meinert-Pavley Funeral Home, Coy Road Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, Oregon. A Masonic service will be held at 5 p.m. Interment will be in Ft. Meigs Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy in Ernest's memory can be made to the Paragon Lodge Building Fund.
