Ernest R. Shiffler, 84, of Toledo, Ohio passed away peacefully at his home Saturday, November 20, 2021. Mr. Shiffler was born November 10, 1937 in Toledo, Ohio to Guy and Nina (Fuller) Shiffler. He was a graduate of Macomber High School and served in the United States Army National Guard. On June 17, 1964, he married the love of his life, Sharon Murphy. Ernie was a lifelong auto mechanic; owning and operating Perrysburg Radiator, retiring in 2014. He was an active member of Unity United Methodist Church, Northwood, dedicating countless hours to the food pantry ministry. His hobbies included woodworking, furniture refinishing, and following the activities of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ernie is survived by his children, Ernie (Renee) Shiffler, Eric (Leslie) Shiffler, and Donna Edwards; grandchildren, Candice Edwards-Hohenberger, Tabitha (Brandon) Helberg, Kaitlynn Edwards, Hunter Shiffler, and Austin Shiffler; great-grandchildren, Drake, Brady, Mackenzie, Brandon II., and Mason; sisters, Ethel, Shirley, Marge, Evelyn, and Kay; along with many nieces, nephews, loving family members, friends, and loyal customers. Preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sharon; and brothers, Richard, Francis, Herman, Russell, and Edward.
The family will receive friends at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road Sunday, November 28, 2021 from 12:00 pm – 6:00 pm. Funeral services Monday, November 29, 2021 at 11:00 am in the funeral home, where the family will greet friends beginning at 9:30 am. Interment: Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Expressions of sympathy may be directed in the form of contributions to Unity United Methodist Church Food Pantry.
