Ernest A. Stokes, 91, of Northwood, Ohio, passed away Friday, January 4, 2019, surrounded by his family. Mr. Stokes was born in Casteton, Scotland on January 12, 1927 to Arthur and Barbara (Mathison) Stokes. On March 11, 1954, he married the love of his life Agnes Eadie. Ernest was a veteran of the British Forces during World War II. After moving to the United States in 1969, he began working for General Dynamic, retiring in 1991. His true passion was watching, playing and coaching soccer. He was a longtime member of the Masonic Lodge. Ernest is survived by his children, Denise (Jeff) Brown and John (Laurie) Stokes; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Kathy) Brown, Kyle (Ashley) Brown, and Madison Stokes; great-granddaughter, Mya Brown; and sister, Ann. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Agnes; 4 brothers and 2 sisters. The family will receive friends at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Thursday, January 10, 2019 from 4:00pm until time of memorial service at 6:00pm. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
