Ernesto David Ramirez, age 66, of Toledo passed away on April 6, 2020. Ernesto was born on August 12, 1953 in Valle Hermoso, Tamauslipas, Mexico to Faustino and Carolina (née Perales) Ramirez. He attended Waite High School and joined the U.S. Air Force in 1971. After 5 years of honorable service in the military, Ernesto spent 30 years at Sun Oil as a transport driver before retiring in 2008. Ernesto and his devoted wife of 45 years, Norma raised two sons together in Toledo. He was a kind and generous man, who worked hard to provide a good life and education for his family. Ernesto relished being Papa E to his much-loved grandchildren and they adored him. He was seen as a father-figure by many and was willing to help wherever and whomever he could. He enjoyed traveling, loved Mexican music and food and classic cars. After his retirement he enjoyed volunteering at the Salvation Army during the holidays and working as an usher at the Huntington Center. Ernesto will be deeply missed and is survived by his wife, Norma (née Garcia), his sons, Michael (Melissa) Ramirez of Avon and Alejandro (Eva Sanchez) Ramirez of Millbury, his grandchildren, Xavier, Esai, Isabella and Mia Ramirez, his siblings, Elisa (Oscar) Benavidez of Bartow, FL, Fina (Carlos) Quintanilla of Brownsville, TX, Elena (Alberto) Gomez of Bowling Green, FL, Jose Luis (Francisca) Ramirez of Sarasota, FL and Clara (Ignacio) Rodriguez of Princeton, TX, Evelia (Sergio Lopez) Perez of Bowling Green, FL and Aurora (Alan) Krodel of Cincinnati, OH, brother-in-law, Roberto Flores and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Faustino and Carolina Ramirez and siblings, Antonio Ramirez, Roberto Ramirez, Eva Flores and Juanita Ramirez. Ernesto will be remembered and loved by not only the family he built with Norma, but by his large extended family and friends he treated like family. A memorial service will be planned for a later date. In the meantime, the family appreciates if friends and loved one's shared their personal memories of Ernesto on the tribute wall. It brings quite a bit of comfort during this time of grief and isolation.
