Obituary

Ethel 'œEt' Gerkensmyer, age 87 of Williston, Ohio, passed away March 6, in her home. She was born in Curtice, Ohio, but raised in Ziegler Illinois. She moved back to Curtice after graduating from Ziegler High School in 1943. Ethel worked for her uncle at the Gulish Villa where she met her husband Robert. They were married for 65 years. Ethel worked at National Supply, Walding Kana and Marvin. She also made 8 track tapes at Ortronics, and worked at Lane Drug store. Ethel retired from Champion Spark Plug after 10 years. She spent over 45 years with family and friends at their cottage on Long Lake in Reading, Michigan. Ethel loved traveling the country, spending time in every state except for 3. Her life was her family, always helping. She was known for being a very hard worker and never taking a break. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be missed by all. She is survived by her husband Robert; Brother, Raymond (Jeannette) Novin; daughter, Terry Wilson; sister-in-law, Patricia Novin; grandson Kevin (Jennifer) Wilson, Robert (Nicole St. John); great-grandchildren, Korrin and Trent Wilson; many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Mary Novin; and brother William Novin. Family and friends may visit Eggleston-Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel on Friday March 9th from 2:00-8:00 pm. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday March 10th at 12:00 noon in the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to Allen Clay Joint Fire Department.
