Ethel Mae Vogtsberger, 93 of Northwood, Ohio passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center. Ethel Mae was born in Curtice, Ohio on May 22, 1924 to Fredrick and Elizabeth (Ackerman) Chandler. She was a 1942 graduate of Genoa High School. On February 23, 1946 she married Ralph Vogtsberger, who survives. Ethel Mae was a member of First St. John Lutheran Church where she was a trustee, served on the Altar Guild and a member of the Ruth Circle. She and her husband farmed and she also was a secretary for Owens Illinois for 10 years, prior to OI she had worked for Toledo Edison.
Ethel Mae and Ralph enjoyed traveling, on their 50th anniversary they took a Mediterranean Cruise; they have also traveled all over the world. She was a big fan of the Cleveland Indians and Chicago Cubs. Locally she was the scorekeeper for many softball and baseball teams. She was always knitting or crocheting in her spare time, making sure all her children and grandchildren were recipients of her work. The most important things in her life, were her husband and family.
In addition to her loving husband of 72 years, Ralph; she is survived by children, Dennis (Linda) Vogtsberger, Kay (John) Laugerman, daughter-in-law, Carolyn Vogtsberger; son-in-law, Richard (Jane) Phillips ; grandchildren, Carrie, Matthew, Kelly, Jessica, Jennifer, Kim, Brad, Brian, Theresa, Shannon, Brooke; 16 great grandchildren. Ethel Mae was preceded by her son, Larry and her daughter, Janet Phillips.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 2-8 pm at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road where her funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 am .
