Ethelmae Schimmel, 97 of Northwood, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at Arbors of Oregon. She was born in Toledo, Ohio on January 25, 1924 to Clarence and Lillian (Hilding) Ames. Ethelmae attended Olney High School and she and her husband were members of St. John Lutheran Church in Williston, Ohio. Ethelmae worked as a Sales Clerk in the Woodville Mall for several years. She was an Eastern Star Lotus Chapter #477 member for over 60 years. She enjoyed teaching china painting classes and enjoyed crocheting and collecting dolls. Ethelmae also enjoyed wintering in Florida and traveling the world to Australia, China and most of Europe. She will be deeply missed by her loving family. Ethelmae is survived by her son, Lee (Mary Jean) Schimmel; daughter, Patricia Noble; grandchildren, Edward (Carolyn) Schimmel, Karen (T.J. Toth) Schimmel; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ralph; brother, Robert Ames; sister, Justine Gargac; and grandson, Sidney Lark. Funeral services will remain private.
