Ethelyn I. Downs, 98, formerly of Northwood, Ohio passed away Sunday, August 5, 2007 at Heartland of Oregon. She was born in Kenne, New Hampshire on December 5, 1908 to Perley and Bernice (Kenyon) Shattuck. Ethelyn was a military wife and mother. She was an active member of the VFW Auxiliary #2510 for 70 years and a member of Oakdale United Methodist Church for 50 years. Ethelyn enjoyed playing bunco, which she did for 60 years. But most of all, Ethelyn enjoyed spending time with her family.   Surviving are her daughter-in-law, Barbara Downs; life-long friend, Betty Johns and long lost granddaughter, Nancy Cormier; 15 grandchildren and many great and great-great grandchildren. Ethelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford; daughter, Clara Dickman; sons, Frank and Fred, and sister, Charlotte Avery.    Friends and family may visit at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Tuesday, from 2-5 and 6-9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted  in the funeral home on Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. with interment following in Toledo Memorial Park.
