IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Etta Yvonne
Ptake
September 26, 1943 – April 19, 2023
On April 19, 2023, Etta "Yvonne" Ptake, 79, of Walbridge, Ohio, passed away peacefully at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo. She was born on September 26, 1943 in Birmingham, Alabama to Robert and Peggy (Goad) Gibson. She was the apple of her daddy's eye who gave her the nickname of "Cookie". Yvonne started her career as a model and worked for a record company based in South Carolina. It was there she met the love of her life Benedict "Ben" Ptake while he was serving in the Air Force. On April 22, 1966 they married and returned to Ben's hometown, Toledo, Ohio. She and Ben spent the remainder of their lives together, with Ben preceding her in death only one month before.
Yvonne gave birth to four daughters. This allowed Yvonne to accomplish what she wanted in life - to love, be loved, and to have a family of her own. She was incredibly in love with both Ben and her girls. Family was important to her. Her family was her sole focus, and she worried about them, rooted for them, protected them, & always kept on loving them. Yvonne finished her career in the automotive industry as an office manager and created websites for small companies.
Yvonne was talented in many aspects of her life. She was a genius with numbers and had beautiful hand writing. She was an amazing cook noting her family favorites of chicken paprikash and her to die for potato salad. Yvonne enjoyed scrapbooking for her grandchildren, arts and crafts, crocheting, reading Stephen King novels, and puzzles. She had a deep love for all kinds of animals from her dog "Bear", her bunny "Buttons", and her favorite squirrel, "Elvis". But most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren at their cottage on Randall Lake in Michigan. It is where she taught them about her passion of nature & about all the different bird species. Yvonne and Ben shared a love of hummingbirds and one of her hummingbird photos was featured in a nature magazine.
Yvonne is survived by her children, Tina Timmons, Yvette Maseck, Julie (Matt) Robinson, and Robin (Ryan) Bowen; grandchildren, Jay Tate, Derek (Kennadie) Logan, Connor (Athena) Bowen, Jase Bowen, and Alex Maseck; and 4 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, Ben Ptake, and her parents.
Yvonne will be desperately missed by all those she's left behind. Our hearts are so broken by this unexpected loss. She was one of a kind and to be loved by her was to be truly blessed.
