Eugene Kessler, 87, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away Saturday, May 9, 2015 at St. Charles Hospital in Oregon. He was born on March 17, 1928 to Anthony and Lucy (Daniels) Kessler. He was a Navy Veteran of World War II and married his loving wife, Harriet (Anway) in 1949. Eugene was employed by the Ohio Department of Taxation for 30 years before retiring in 1980 as the Toledo District Manager. Aside from work, he was a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church, the Public Accounts Society of Ohio and the Chippewa Men's League.
He is survived by his wife; daughters, Sandra (Richard) Widders and Sharon (Richard) Reucher; grandchildren, Lisa (Brian) Craig, Ricky (Allie) Reucher, Matt (Kelly) Widders and Kelly (James) Brennan; great-grandchildren, Jake and Max Craig, Lena Widders, and Brooklynn Reucher; and siblings, Maryann Spotts, Anthony Kessler Jr. and Walter (Laurie) Kessler. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law Vernon; and sister-in-law, Marian.
Visitation will be held at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, 440 S. Coy Road, Oregon, Ohio on Monday, May 11 from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. It will also be held at Our Lady, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Cathedral Chapel, 2535 Collingwood Boulevard, Toledo, Ohio on Tuesday, May 12 from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Farewell Retreat in Republic, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be directed to St. Jerome Catholic Church. His family would like to thank so many medical professionals for their care, to include the emergency room and ICU staff at St. Charles Hospital.
