Florence M. 'œFlo' Reardon 86, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at Orchard Villa, surrounded by her family.
Florence was born on February 21, 1926, in Fremont, Ohio to Stanislaus and Ursula (Wasserman) Halm. She was a graduate of Fremont St. Joseph High School and later attended cosmetology school. On April 27, 1945, she married Cyril Reardon. Florence was employed with Lanes, Peoples, and Rite-Aid Pharmacy as a cosmetician 27 years, retiring in 1991. While at Lanes, Florence was recognized numerous times as 'œCosmetician of the Month' for her talent in cosmetic display. Florence was involved in many organizations including St. Charles Auxiliary, North American Swiss Ladies, and Oregon Business and Professional Women'™s Club. Florence was a longtime member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church where she was active in the Altar Guild. In later years, Florence developed a passion for running. She joined the Toledo Road Runners in the 1970'™s. In 1983, she participated in the World Veterans Games in San Juan Puerto Rico, where she received a bronze medalin the 400 meter dash. In 1986, she participated in US National Masters Indoor Track and Field Championships in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where she won 3 gold medals. In 1987, she participated in the US National Senior Olympics.
She is survived by her children; Patricia Henry, Daniel (Sandi) Reardon, and Timothy (Patty) Reardon; grandchildren, Ann, Michelle, Lisa, Mark, Mike, Brian, Jason, Tim, and Emily; 16 great-grandchildren; siblings, Tom (Jean) Halm, Glenn (Mary Ann) Halm, and Irene (Bill) Rimelspach; son-in-law, Jerry Goralske; along with special friend, Fred Galla. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Cyril; daughter, Mary Louise Goralske; brother, William Halm; and son-in-law, Terry Henry.
Friends may call at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Friday from 2:00-8:00 pm where a scripture service will be held at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will begin at 10:15 am Saturday with prayers in the funeral home and proceed to St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 729 White Street, Toledo, for Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. Private interment will be at St. Ann Cemetery, Fremont, Ohio. Memorials may be directed to St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Hospice of Northwest Ohio, or Mercy St. Charles Auxiliary. www.egglestonmeinert.com
