Obituary

Florence Cousino Shutt, age 90, passed away peacefully, with her loving family at her side, on Saturday, April 5, 2008.  She was born on May 26th, 1917 in Detroit, Michigan to Ethel and Roy, Steward.    She was preceded in death by her husband, Dan Shutt; her first husband Hulie Cousino; and her two sisters, Dorothy Peth and Gladys Sherwood.  She leaves behind to carry on her memory her daughters, Sharon Toth and Marlene Zurawski; her sisters, Ruth  Ziethlow and Dollie Schuette; her sons-in-law, Steve Toth and Dennis Zurawski; her six grandchildren, Dawn, Chris, Lori, Jeff, Kellie and Mark; and her fifteen great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.   As a single mother of two daughters, Florences first priority was taking care of her family.  She loved being with people each day of her life.  In her earlier years, she was employed with her sister Gladys as the lunch counter manager at Tiedkes in downtown Toledo.  She continued on to be one of the original owners of the Whitehouse restaurant as well as being the dairy manager at the K-Mart grocery store.  In her later years, she enjoyed babysitting and taking care of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Florence had an incredible love of animals, especially her dog Levi.  A great book or two was always found by her couch.  Other interests included playing cards and bingo with friends.  Also, if good music was heard at a family wedding reception, you could always count on Florence being one of the first people on the dance floor.  She took pride in her most famous creation, Flop Cake.  Even though it was prepared out of a mistake in the recipe, her family loved every bite!  Spending times up at the lake eating Hungarian Turkey Bread with good conversation was very special for Florence, as well.   You will always be with us and in out hearts, Mom/Nanee/Grandma!  We will all see you in heaven some day.  The family wishes to thank the staff of Orchard Villa, Florences home for the past 6 years and the special care they provided her during this time.  Also, they would like to thank the kind nurses of the Hospice of Northwest Ohio Toledo Care Center.  Visitation will be held Monday from 3pm 9pm in the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, 440 South Coy Road, Oregon, Ohio where services will be conducted on Tuesday, April 8th at 1pm.  Interment will take place in Toledo Memorial Park.  Memorials can be made to the Hospice of Northwest Ohio Toledo Care Center. Visitation: 3-9 pm Monday Services: 1 pm Tuesday
