Floyd Henry Dalton "Daffy" 86, of Oregon, OH passed away on Friday March 27th, 2015, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. He was born on May 31st, 1928, in Nelsonville, OH to Fred and Ruth Dalton. Floyd served on active duty for the United States Navy from May 1946 until May 1949. He also retired from CSX railroad after 42 years of employment. He was an avid gardener, hunter and euchre player. Floyd also enjoyed fishing, bowling, and spending time outdoors with his wife, his grandchildren and also spending time with his German Sheppard "Bunny".
Floyd is survived by spouse Catherine Dalton of 49 years; siblings, Juanita, Fred (Betty), Almirea Jo, Doris Ann, Sandra, William, Tom (Donna), Susan, and brother in-law William Demshok. Also his sons Rex Dalton, Michael Basinger, and Harold Basinger. Floyd had 9 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Floyd was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Patricia and brothers, Charles, Morris, Jim, Richard, Jerry, and his late son Dennis Basinger.
Visitation will be held at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, 440 South Coy Road, Oregon, Ohio on Tuesday, March 31 from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, April 1 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Lake Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
