On August 17, 2018 at the age of 89, Floyd gained peace and rest from his struggle with the complications of Parkinson's disease. Floyd never let the disease define him, rather he was defined by his radiant smile, his cheery "Hi" and willingness to jump in and help anyone.
Throughout his life, Floyd sought to learn and teach. He was proud of his military service and membership in the Christ Dunberger American Legion Post. For many years he was an active member of the National Threshers Association, maintaining a collection of antique "hit and miss" engines. He was also a longtime member of the Magic Lantern Society, performing magic lantern shows in various locations. He was an avid sailor but it wasn't always clear whether he enjoyed the sailing or repairing the boat more. Floyd retired from LOF in 1991 after 43 years as a tooling engineer, with several patents to his credit.
Over the years, his passions were his family genealogy and First Saint John Lutheran Church, where he was extremely active in many capacities, primarily the cemetery and archive committees in his most recent years. This former Sunday school teacher and elder also anonymously penned the monthly "Church Mouse" letter for the bulletin. The entwined history of the church and his family took him to all parts of Ohio, Minnesota and Germany. Floyd documented the history of the church to its founding, and the Hagedorn family to Germany, back to the 1600's. Floyd was a lifetime gold member and past president of the Oregon Jerusalem Historical Society.
Floyd is survived by his loving companion Connie Power, his children Daniel (Linda) Hagedorn, Viola (Patrick) Grzybowski, Beth Beech, Jeff (Jean Weaver) Hagedorn, Ted (Deb) Hagedorn, his brother Gene Hagedorn, 13 grandchildren, Julie Case, Jennifer WIlson, Mark Hagedorn, Nick Hagedorn, Joe Hagedorn, Matt Hagedorn, Vic Miller, Bryan Miller, April Lowe, Jess Reau, Andrea Hudson and Angie Davis; 33 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years Gloria, his parents Ted & Helen Hagedorn, Sister Donna May (Hagedorn) Shaffer, and grandson Brent Hagedorn.
