Francisco Alaniz, 80, of Bono, Ohio, passed away December 13, 2007, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo. He was born in Edinburg, Texas on January 3, 1927, to Jose and Rafaela (Ysagurre) Alaniz. Francisco was employed by General Motors Powertrain for 30 years, retiring in 1993. He served in the Army during WWII, was a member of Primera Iglesia Bautista Church and most recently attended Bono Baptist Church. Francisco enjoyed attending church, fishing, carpentry, gardening and spending time with his family. Surviving are his son, Fernando (Dalia) Alaniz; daughters, Maria Ruth (Darin) Harder and Alicia (John) McLeod; siblings, Augustina Thompson, Isaac Rivera, Lydia Herrera, Edward, Philip, Abraham and John Rivera; grandchildren, Melissa (Adam) Goldberg, Gabriel (Gabrielle) and Michael (Mary) Alaniz and Aaron Harder; great grandchild, Gabianna Alaniz. Francisco was preceded in death by his parents and beloved wife, Rosita. Visitation will be held at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, Oregon, OH, on Monday from 2-9 p.m. where funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday at 11 a.m. Interment will take place in Restlawn Memorial Park.
