Frank E. Horvath, 84, of East Toledo, passed away October 9, 2009 at Perrysburg Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Frank was born March 2, 1925 to Stephen "Kinzer" and Emma (Sanislo) Horvath. He was a 1939 graduate of St. Stephens Elementary School and graduated early in 1943 from Waite High School, in order to join the U.S. Navy during WWII.
Frank served his country as a "Gunner's Mate" 3rd Class on the U.S.S. Izard for two years. He ended his Naval service aboard the Auxiliary Tug Rescue 74.
Frank worked for Gulf/Chevron Oil as an Assistant Stillman for 35 years, retiring upon the plants closing in 1981. He was a longtime active member of the Greater Birmingham 4906 VFW Post and the Chemical Oil Workers Union both located on Consaul Street.
Left to mourn his passing are his daughters, Fran (Marty) Clement, Lori (Mike) Kamelesky, Kris (Terry) Kamelesky; sons, Craig and Mark Horvath; grandchildren, Michele (Eric) Parker, Joe (Laura) Clement, Amy (Ed) Middleton, Sarah (Sam) Colvin, Tracy Kamelesky, Mark Sepeda, Matthew (Monique) Kamelesky, Jeanette (Nate) Mollenhauer, Melissa Kamelesky, Adam Clement, Luke Kamelesky, Ashley Kamelesky; great-grandchildren, Jaret Parker, Zyler Kamelesky, Braylon Middleton, Ariana Sepada, Josiah and Luke Clement, Marley and Myles Mollenhauer, Mya Colvin. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 36 years, June A. Whiting; brother, Stephen Horvath; and sister, Margie Takacs.
Friends may call at Kinsey Funeral Home 2001 Consaul Street, Toledo on Sunday from 2-8 pm. Funeral services will begin at 9:45 am Monday with prayers in the funeral home and proceed to St. Stephens Catholic Church for Mass of Christian Burial at 10am. Interment will follow at North Oregon Cemetery.
