Frank J. Macek, 93, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away Sunday, April 11, 2021 at Northwest Ohio Hospice. He spent his last days enjoying reminiscing with his family and listening to the music he loved. Frank and his wife Nancy (Philquist), who were married for 63 years, loved dancing and were often told they were the best dancers on the dance floor. Throughout his life, music and dancing were always a part of family and neighborhood get-togethers. Frank graduated from Macomber Whitney High School in 1946. He loved sports. He participated in football, basketball, bowling, golf, softball and won trophies in all. He was very artistic and enjoyed calligraphy. After high school he joined the Army, 4th Division and spent time in Europe. He loved getting to travel and created a scrapbook of his time in the service. He enjoyed sharing the stories of his time there with family and friends. His favorite saying was, "All the pictures in books, photos and TV, nothing can compare to being there!" After the service, he worked for 36 ½ years at Libbey Owens Ford (now Pilkington) in Rossford. He enjoyed camping, fishing, horseshoes and traveling. Over the years, he was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, V.F.W.-4906, Local 9, Foresters, German American Festival/Swiss Club and the Knights of Columbus. Frank enjoyed spending time with family and friends in the neighborhood. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecilia (Tomasek) and Paul Macek, Sr.; brothers, Paul and John Macek; sister, Katie Szegedi; wife, Nancy and son, Mark; niece Theresa Macek. Surviving are his daughters, Leslie Nadeau and Kelly (James) Spray; grandchildren, Eric (Chelsea) Macek, Angela Macek, Mikayla, Nathan and Austin Spray; great grandchildren, Peyton and Ethan Macek; Sister-in-law, Joyce Macek, niece, Shirley Macek; and nephew Jeff Macek, niece Patricia (Szegedi) Bowen, and nephew John Szegedi. Family and friends may visit Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, 440 S Coy Rd, Oregon, Ohio, 43616 on Saturday, April 24, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Inurnment will immediately follow visitation at Lake Township Cemetery.
