Frank T. Tolnai, 80 of Oregon, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 5, 2007 in his home. Frank was born in Budapest Hungary on April 26, 1927 to Kalmen and Ilona (Molnar) Tolnai. In 1942 Mr. Tolnai was captured by the Russians at age 15 and made a prisoner of war. He would escape the prisoner camp in 1947 and made his way back to Budapest where he then played soccer and boxed. During the Hungarian Revolution in 1956 Frank would finally leave Hungary and make his home in the United States. Mr. Tolnai would become employed as a laborer for Dohler Jarvis. Among his many loves were his family and especially his dogs and gardening.
Surviving are his loving wife, Dianne; son, Steven (Karie) Tolnai; daughter, Krisztina (Daniel) Hanus and grandchildren, Paul, Chadd, Alex and Steven. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and son, David Tolnai.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday at 11:00 am in the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road where visitation will be Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 8 pm. Interment will be in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. The family suggests memorial contributions in Frank's memory be made to either the Toledo Humane Society or the charity of the donor's choice.
