Frederick J. Kowalka, 75, Oregon, Ohio passed away on Friday in Bay Park Community Hospital. He was born on January 28, 1928 to Frederick C. and Lena C. (Moritz) Kowalka in Toledo, OH. Fred was self employed as a farmer for over 50 years and was a veteran of the Korean War. His memberships included Christ Dunberger American Legion Post #537, First St. John Lutheran Church, VFW Post #9816, the Korean War Veterans of NW Ohio, Lotus & Paragon Lodge, Scottish Rite, and the Cooley Canal Yacht Club. Surviving are sons, Raymond (Polly), William and Keith Kowalka; 4 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild and sister, Laverne Klawitter. Fred was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Suzanne. Family and friends may visit at the Eggleston-Meinert-Pavley Funeral Home, Coy Road Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, Oregon, OH on Monday, November 10, 2003 from 2-9 pm with Dunberger Post services at 7:30 pm. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday at 1 pm with interment to follow in Restlawn Memorial Park.
