Frederick L. Saelzler, 94, of Oregon passed away on Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at the Lutheran Home of Toledo. Fred was born in Toledo on April 25, 1916 to Frederick O. and Rose (Gens) Saelzler. He was a 1934 graduate of Waite High School and attended Stautzenberger Business College . On January 10, 1942 he married Hilda Deetz of Elmore , Ohio . He was a US Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Saelzler was employed by Lagrange Builder'™s Supply for 40 years and was the co owner for 18 years before his retirement in 1993. He was a member of First St. John Lutheran Church where he served on the church council and as financial secretary and treasurer for many years. Fred was a member of Dunberger American Legion Post, past board member of Unison Mental Health Center and volunteered at St. Charles Hospital . Mr. Saelzler also served in the Ohio Highway Patrol Auxiliary for over 30 years.
Surviving are his wife of 69 years, Hilda; son, James (Patricia) Saelzler; daughter, Judith (Thomas) Schult and granddaughter, Erin Saelzler.
Friends and family may visit at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel on Thursday, from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will take place in First St. John Lutheran Church on Friday at 11:00 am. Private interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Park . The family suggests memorial contributions in Fred'™s memory be made to either First St. John Lutheran Church or the charity of the donor'™s choice.
