Gary J. Carstensen, 83, of Williston, Ohio, passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at Edgewood Manor, Port Clinton, Ohio. Gary was born in Curtice, Ohio September 7, 1939, to Leonard and Mildred (Jensen) Carstensen. He attended Genoa High School and served in the United States Army from 1963 to 1965. On May 25, 1963, he married Darlene Zunk. Mr. Carstensen was a plumber by trade and partner in Siglar & Sieving Plumbing & Heating of Genoa, Ohio, retiring in 2018. Gary was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Williston, Ohio and enjoyed restoring antique cars, attending car shows, woodworking, and traveling with his family.
Gary is survived by his wife of 59 years, Darlene; children, Randy (Tonya Maix) Carstensen and Brenda (John Weber) Carstensen; grandchildren, Douglas Hoar, Amanda (Bobby) Boris, and Nathan Hoar; great-grandchildren, Layla, Landen, and Leo Boris; siblings, Robert (Carol) Carstensen, Dennis (Dianne) Carstensen, and Sharon (Ron) Potter; along with many nieces, nephews, loving family members, and dear friends. Preceded in death by his parents.
The family will receive friends at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Millbury Chapel, 1111 Woodville Road (east of I-280) Friday, January 27, 2023 from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Funeral services Saturday, January 28, 2023 at 11:00 am in St. John Lutheran Church, 21140 W. Toledo Street, Williston where the family will receive friends after 10:00 am. Interment: Williston Cemetery, Allen Township. Expressions of sympathy may be directed to St. John Lutheran Church or the Allen-Clay Joint Fire District.
