Gene C. Buttruff, 67, of Northwood, Ohio passed away on Monday, September 1, 2008, at the Veterans Hospital in Ann Arbor. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on December 10, 1940, to Harold and Mary (Radaker) Buttruff. Gene was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving during the Vietnam War. He was employed for 26 years in the maintenance department at the University of Toledo. Gene's memberships included the IOF Forester 1228, American Legion Post 537, FO Eagles Post #197, life-time member of the Disabled American Veterans, and was a member of Memorial United Church of Christ. Surviving are his cousins, David (Kathy) Pickett, Charlene Guth and Charlotte Soncrant. Gene was preceded in death by his parents; half-brothers, Don, Harold and Ray Laubenz. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4-8 p.m. at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home with interment following in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
